class update

So I thought it would be fun [boring?] to give you all a class update. We have had one week of class and are already half way through our book. Its very intense. We have learned numbers, letters, colors, foods, drinks, greetings, days, how to order food, nationalities, adjectives, time, social phrases, shopping phrases, daily routines and some verbs. So you can better grasp the language I will type out a paragraph that we have to translate for homework and then I will go ahead and translate it for you as well. Mind you, I wont be able to make all of the correct accents and such so it will look a little bit different but you will get the gist.

Here goes:
Spim kazdy den osm hodin. Vstavam brzo rano - v sedm. Nesnidam, dam si jenom horkou silnou cernou kavu. Rano jsem doma a od osmi delam neco na pocitaci, ucim se a posloucham hudbu. V deset odchazim do skoly. Ve skole jsem do tri nebo do peti. Potom jim hlavni jidlo. Vecer vidim Karlu. To je moje holka. Vecerime, prochazime se, divame se na zaijmavy film, nebo mulvime. V osm ale knocime, protoze Karla dela barmanku v klubu, tak potom nema cas, jenom v nedeli. Ja odchazim domu. Karla je moje laska. Je inteligentni a hezka. Mam karlu moc rad.
Translation:
I sleep eight hours every day. I wake up in the early morning - at seven. I don't eat breakfast, I only have a bitter, strong, black coffee. In the morning I am at home working on the computer, learning music. At ten I leave for school. I am at school until three or until five. Then I have a big meal. I go out with Karla. She is my girlfriend. We eat dinner, listen to music, watch an interesting movie, or talk. At eight we are through because Karla is a bartender at a club, so then she has no time until Sunday. I leave for home. Karla is my love. She is smart and pretty. I like Karla very much.

So there is some freaky deaky Czech for you. Oh, and just a fun fact, when you are using the accusative form of words, everything changes, even names which makes everything 800 times more confusing. But on a better note, we have had two quizzes and I got an A- on the first one and the highest grade in the class on the second one, only missing two points. Alright!!

Bonnie,
I am living vicariously through your travels! Keep on posting your escapades~ I love it! The pictures are great, and I love your descriptions of people, especially the smelly one! Next time, and being a pretty American there will be a next time, have a plan for how you'll handle those nasty men on trains! You girls need to pull together now that you know what you may face! UGH! On a lighter note,keep on learning and having fun!!! Chris B.
